Pulitzer Winner Yergin Ponders the Energy Revolution
Daniel Yergin, the Pulitzer Prize winning energy author, will discuss his epic new work, THE QUEST, with me noon ET on Thursday, Dec. 15.
His book is about "Energy, Security, and the Remaking of the Modern World."
Yergin was on the Colbert Report in September.
Now he will be the solo featured guest for our closing EnergyBiz webcast for 2012.
Our conversation will kick off a series of compelling webcasts in coming months to explore in depth the theme of the upcoming EnergyBiz Leadership Forum, Harnessing Disruption - March 19-21 in Washington.
Yergin is the chairman of IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates. For many years, he has been the impressive impresario of the CERAWeek conference in Houston where leaders of the oil, gas and power sector from around the world convene each spring to discuss the state of the energy sector and its probable future.
I am working my way through the oil section of Yergin’s new book and will soon make tracks through his treatment of power, climate change and emerging energy technologies.
Read the book, if you can.
And register for our webcast conversation at our EnergyBiz Leadership series web site.
If you have questions for Dan, you will be able to send them in during our webcast. If you would like to submit a question earlier, send it to editor@energybiz.com.
One tidbit from his book to get you fired up.
Since the dawn of the oil age in the 19th century, the world has used 1 trillion barrels of oil. The amount of oil that is technically and economically feasible to tap? 1.4 trillion barrels, Yergin writes. The “oil plateau” many have been warning about for decades “continues to recede into the horizon,” according to Yergin.
Dan and I invite you to listen in – online – midday on Dec. 15.
